No. That's not the number of days since I last updated the site...but close. Luke's parents survived for an entire year! Congratulations to them, but more importantly, Happy Birthday to Luke!
What an amazing year. It's been both the longest and the shortest year of my life. To make a long story short, Luke started walking at about age nine months and one week, had tubes put in his ears at about eleven months, will run the San Diego Marathon in June, enjoys multivariable calculus problems, and playing the guitar and piano.
OK. Some of that may be exaggeration, but his evolution has been rapid. His mobility has been the major impediment to web site updates. He likes to move. It's so much fun. He's really entertaining and sweet. He's gone from a little, immobile project to an independent, play pal.
Luke was the luckiest birthday boy because he got to have two parties. Two weeks ago he went to Grandma and Grandpa Saum's in Toledo. He had a blast and got some great gifts. He really enhanced his love of dogs there. Looks like we're going to have to get a bigger yard.... Unfortunately, I don't have any of the excellent pictures from that trip because my scanner is disconnected while we renovate the final room in the house.
Grandpa Foster, Aunt Kristin and Uncle Garret were able to make it out for the party from Longmont, CO and San Francisco, CA. Luke hasn't gotten to spend a ton of time around them yet, but he loves people. He figured out very quickly that they were some of the good ones, AND he could use them to get what he wanted. He hardly slept (which, unfortunately, isn't altogether unusual) because he wanted to play so desperately.
