When you think of lifetime sports, Brazilian jiu-jitsu probably doesn't come to mind for most people. Somehow it made sense to me to start at age 36. Not quite a year later, I'm older and wiser and earned my blue belt. Unfortunately, I got the belt three days before my first tournament, which meant that I had to compete against people with potentially far more experience than I.
You can judge my performance for yourself in the video. It was exhilarating (and exhausting) and I learned a lot about the game, including how the scoring works.
In other news, Little League for Luke has just begun and Ben has become quite the builder. He's building Lego's for 7-12 year olds. He's shockingly patient. So there's pics of Luke in uniform and Ben building with...toothpicks.
