We took our first pure pleasure vacation since 1998. No agenda. No worries. Libby, Luke and I flew south and east to 13 N x 59 W; that's Barbados for normal people. You might expect the latitude/longitude to be a piece of trivia that I researched or culled from my curiosity collection, but the truth is that it was the name of a very tasty rum drink that helped me understand life on an island.
To be sure, it's not that hard to understand temperature ranges from 76 to 84, perfect white-sand beaches and clear blue water. The hardest thing to understand is why we left the island.
We didn't do much to write home about. Spent a lot of time in the water, toured the nearest town (Bridgetown), spent time on the beach, drove around the island, spent time at the pool, and sampled the native Mount Gay rum and Banks beer (alcohol is so much cooler when it's local and foreign all at the same time, and No, Libby didn't have any).
Much to my surprise, I really enjoyed having nothing to do. I'm trying to figure out how to recreate that scenario here.... Clearly I have little else to say so go enjoy the pictures.
