I guess the more stuff I have to show off, the more I'm inspired to work on the web page....
Libby's parents left Toledo, OH at 3:30am on Thursday and arrived at our house at about 3:30pm. Their main purpose was to help us with the house, and help is an understatement! When I came home from work on Friday, the baby's room was nearly completely repainted.
It's one of those tasks that seemed so overwhelming to me because I didn't know where to start. We had been using that room to store stuff we were occassionally using. With the carpeting and the sheetrocking going on about the house, we used that room as a refuge. Anyway, some of the hardest work was clearing out the room, which I got to avoid :-)
The second hardest part was probably scrubbing the splattered paint off the wood floors, which Laurie handled while Steve painted. When we moved in, carpet was stapled directly over these nice hardwood floors. That and the 9"-deep closet (adult hangars are about 16" wide) make me shake my head repeatedly. Why would you do something like that? The mysteries of this house are not historic but hysterical.
Unfortunately, I don't have too many "before" pictures, but the "afters" speak volumes. I'd say this room was in the best original shape in the house, but that wasn't saying much. A white coat of paint makes the room seem much larger. The colors (reds, blues and greens) mostly came from Libby hand-decorating the bookcases, footstool, shelves, etc.
Thanks to the Saums, we are actually ready for Luke to join us. Thank you! I think I'll stop yakking and let the pictures do the talking. There are several pictures of the room attached to the picture link above. Enjoy!
